We are recruiting a Fire Engineer to support a busy technical team on a short term contract based in South Ruislip. This is a hands on role suited to an experienced Fire Engineer who can review, assess, and advise on fire safety compliance across new build and existing assets within the UK built environment.

The role
You will provide fire engineering input across design and construction stages, with a particular focus on fire strategies, compliance reviews, and passive fire protection.

Key responsibilities
* Review fire strategies for new build and existing buildings in line with Approved Document B, BS 9991, BS 9999, and relevant British and European Standards
* Prepare and develop fire strategies where required
* Undertake fire engineering assessments and technical notes for bespoke site conditions and deviations from tested passive fire stopping details
* Apply performance based fire engineering solutions where prescriptive guidance is not sufficient
* Liaise with architects, MEP engineers, and contractors to resolve design and site queries
* Review design changes and assess their impact on fire safety compliance
* Provide technical support during construction
* Participate in site inspections and compliance reviews where required
* Contribute to internal quality assurance and technical development processes

Skills and experience

Essential
* Proven experience working as a Fire Engineer within the UK built environment
* Strong knowledge of UK fire safety legislation, guidance, and standards
* Solid understanding of passive fire stopping

Desirable
* Experience producing fire engineering assessments and technical notes

Qualifications
* Degree in Fire Engineering or a related engineering discipline
* Working towards or holding professional registration
* Membership of, or progression towards membership of, the Institution of Fire Engineers or an equivalent professional body

Rate: £35 – £40 per hour.
