Quantity Surveyor – Reading | Civil Engineering & Utilities Projects

We’re working with a leading civil engineering and infrastructure contractor with over four decades of proven delivery across major infrastructure projects.With a direct delivery model, long-term frameworks, and an award-winning commitment to people development, they are now seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team in the Thames Valley region.
The Role:
As Quantity Surveyor, you’ll provide commercial support to civil engineering projects ranging from £200k to £10m+, including frameworks, emergency works, and bespoke schemes. You’ll take ownership of cost forecasting, subcontractor management, valuations, and client liaison to ensure commercial risk is mitigated and opportunity maximised.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure robust and timely cost and value reporting
  • Manage subcontract procurement and payment processes
  • Handle client variations, claims and commercial discussions
  • Support project delivery teams on budgeting, forecasting and earned value
  • Play a key role in monthly CVRs and cash flow reports

Experience & Requirements:

  • Degree/HND in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
  • NEC or ICE contract experience essential
  • Experience in civil engineering, utilities, or infrastructure
  • Ability to manage subcontractor accounts and client commercial interactions
  • Strong numeracy, communication and commercial acumen
  • Ideally MRICS or working towards professional qualification
